SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY Print E-mail

SBS Events Centre and the Fitness Studio are involved in a number of sponsorships and make contributions in a variety of ways.  As a community owned and operated facility that enjoys great community support, putting something back is important to our overall operations.

The following projects represent some of our on-going involvement in the community:
 
SECONDARY SCHOOL SPORTS PERFORMANCE SCHOLARSHIP Print E-mail

Twice a year the Fitness Studio offers scholarships to students at any Timaru or Temuka secondary school.  The Scholarship entitles holders to a 6 month Fitness Studio membership, nutritional advice and one on one individual training sessions.

Applications are called for in May and November and to be eligible students must be at school during the full 6 months of the Scholarship and be willing and able to put something back in to their sport, school and community.

SPECIAL KIDS CHRISTMAS PARTY Print E-mail

The Special Kids Christmas Party is an annual get together for children with special needs, and includes lots of play opportunities, afternoon tea and a visit from Santa.  The Centre supports the work of Parent to Parent, who coordinate the afternoon's activities.

Jono Nelson is a disabled athlete, whose chosen sport is hand-cycling.  The Fitness Studio is supporting his efforts to reach several goals including selection and participation in various regional and world events, eventually leading to selection in the  New Zealand Paralympics team for London 2012.
